Students will get a taste of high school life and see firsthand many of the specialist rooms and teaching and learning spaces, as well as the extensive sporting facilities and fields that Birrong Girls High students enjoy.
Parents and students will tour the school and hear about the exciting new building and refurbishment works underway and due for completion in 2025.
These include new playground spaces, a state-of-the-art hall, innovative learning spaces, specialist technology and art facilities, and a new office and reception area.
Living up to its motto, Ad Astra or to the stars, the school has a long tradition of educational excellence that strongly caters to university and other tertiary pathways, in addition to facilitating many vocational pursuits through its outstanding delivery of vocational education training frameworks.
Full participation in school life is strongly endorsed, with many options, including Social Justice and Environmental Teams, instrumental and vocal ensembles, representative debating and public speaking, Premiers Reading Challenge, drama club, chess club and Jump Rope for Heart among many others.
Student leadership is also a priority with many training opportunities to develop skills and participate in the Student Representative Council, peer support and peer tutoring.
“We look forward to the Open Day which is an opportunity for BGHS to celebrate its ongoing, successful partnership with students and parents, underpinned by a nurturing culture that fosters students’ active learning and participation,” Deputy Principal Kelly Andrews said.
