Canterbury Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour urged residents to get involved and be part of the groundswell of support against littering, this Clean Up Australia Day, on Sunday, March 5.
“I’m always so proud to see how our community comes together to help make a big impact,” he said.
“Even if you only have an hour to spare, I’d encourage everyone to join their local clean up site and get involved and meet like-minded people.”
More than 50 clean up locations have been identified – with more than 20 open for the public to join in – including schools, businesses, parklands and river foreshores this Clean Up Australia Day, on Sunday, March 5.
If you can’t make it to one of the clean ups, there are plenty more opportunities to tune into our natural environment through the council’s ‘We Love Our Rivers’ initiative.
From March-May each year, the council hosts and promotes a series of events to explore and help clean up our rivers, which are home to a range or endangered plants and animals.
