Arabic-speaking besties for 14 years, Reem and Crystal believe they have what it takes to go all the way and should they win, will spend the prize money on a house deposit.
Also representing Bankstown, lawyer cousins Kathy and Chace of Milperra, say they will do anything to win so long as it’s legal. However, Reem, a primary school teacher and Crystal, a podiatry medicine student, say their emotional intelligence and attention to detail will be hard to beat.
Working hard on their fitness before the show, they are still finding the challenges physically and mentally tough.
“Nothing can really prepare you since everything is unknown,” Reem said.
“You only find out on the day what you’ll be doing and though we are certainly smashing some challenges, others are trickier such as having to drive a car manually without a lesson.”
Crystal says they are seeing sights and sounds off the beaten track that no one would believe.
“We get minimal sleep or time to eat plus are Covid-testing everyday but it is really exciting and we are definitely surprising ourselves,” she said.
“What is especially great is that the challenges are embedded in local culture, whether that be Morocco, Greece or Mexico to name just a few and viewers will see remote parts of some countries they would never think to visit.
“It is definitely the experience of a lifetime and we’re making some friends for life; we are very grateful.”
