Future ‘Matildas’ walk lap ahead of China game

AS the Matildas went through their warm up ahead of their 2-0 victory over China last Monday night at Accor Stadium, they were cheered on by a group of future soccer stars (pictured) from St Christophers Football Club Panania.

The group of young females had also been selected to enjoy walking a lap of the field before the game thanks to their Football Australia rating as a ‘1 Star Club Game Changer’ due to their dedication and success developing women’s and girl’s football.
Celebrating 50 years in 2024, the club has worked hard over the past few years in devising ways to grow, foster and develop female players with astounding success.
Saints FC Secretary Kim Pryde said that in 2020, the club had three females teams and 37 players registered.
“This year, the club has 13 all girls’ and women’s teams and 142 registered female players from our kindies program and juniors through to the All Age Ladies team,” she said.
“Doing a lap in front of the crowd at the Matildas’ game was a fantastic experience for our young girls who are even more inspired now, with all of them sure they will be future Matildas.”
