Funds to help save heritage

REBATES of up to $4,000 are up for grabs to help owners of heritage properties.

Owners of heritage homes can apply for funding to help maintain and improve the quality of their properties under the Cumberland’s Local Heritage Rebate Program until the end of next month.
Also encouraging heritage enthusiasts and heritage homeowners to apply for the 2021 Local Heritage Awards, Mayor Steve Christou described the city as “rich with history”.
“At council, we place a significant value on maintaining our heritage sites,” he said.
“These awards give us an opportunity to honour Cumberland City’s heritage and the history of our community.”
Winners of the Best Maintained Heritage Property and Best Restoration and Development (including adaptive re-use), receive bronze plaques while the winner of the Researching Our Local History award, receives a $400 book voucher.
The Children’s Heritage Award is a colouring competition with two age divisions and a prize of a $100 book voucher in each, while the ‘Keeper of the Stone’ wins a $50 book voucher and is entrusted with care of the Cumberland City Heritage Stone for 12 months.
