Fun, free workshop to become more tech-savvy

AS much as we don’t want to admit we rely on it, the internet and technology have become an integral part of everyday life.

But new research from digital inclusion charity The Good Things Foundation, reveals that two-thirds (65 per cent) of people lack confidence in keeping up with tech changes. As such, Women’s Welfare Australia is hosting a ‘Paint and Surf (the web)’ workshop at Auburn Centre for Community this Saturday, October 21, 12.30-3.30pm.
It follow Get Online Week (October 16-22) which was encouraging all to find the support they need to improve their digital skills.
Ideal for mature-aged women of all backgrounds, the free workshop will introduce participants to a unique social media gem – Pinterest.
A visual discovery engine, Pinterest is ideal for finding ideas like recipes, home and style inspiration, and more.
Participants will learn to search for creative ideas and have a great time painting and connecting digitally and physically – all with the help of a light lunch and tea or coffee.
Facilitator Zainab Jalloh said learning to use technology and the internet was not only crucial to stay connected with loved ones and keep up to date with the world around us, it’s also essential to apply for jobs, learn new skills and bank online money.
“We invite women to come along to our workshop and find out how easy it is and how much fun it can be,” she said.
