The Panthers resumed day two with the loss of only one wicket down, and the Dogs were barking with three batsmen out for 10 runs or under – with Brad Simpson snaring two of the three.
But without enough runs in the bank, the other Penrith batsmen worked their way to victory despite slow scoring from their opener.
While the Dogs sometimes applied some pressure with quality bowling, the visitors worked their way to overtake the Dogs’ total in the 68th over.
Simpson was the pick with 2 for 57 as the Panthers passed the home side’s total five wickets down.
The Dogs play Sydney at Drummoyne Oval next week in a two-day format match.
Full of bark but can’t cage foes
BANKSTOWN were hoping for some quick wickets to stem the run-chase by Penrith in their Sydney Premier Cricket clash last Saturday.
