However, when Rayshays Punchbowl owner Muhammad Wajahat arrived in Australia from Pakistan five years ago, he never imagined the course his journey would take him on and how he could possibly give back to the community in this way.
Muhammad’s story is an inspirational reminder of what hard work, dedication and community service can achieve.
He started his career as a dishwasher at a prominent local restaurant, walking two kilometres (each way) daily.
“I worked hard, exerting myself day and night to add value to the business, and caught the eye of my seniors,” he said.
He subsequently became a chef and eventually purchased the store – Rashays Punchbowl – from its previous owner.
“Now a thriving establishment, it is one of the best-performing businesses in the renowned Rashays chain and a household name in Western Sydney,” he said.
But this wasn’t Muhammad’s only achievement; he started giving back by sponsoring events for domestic violence awareness, breast cancer research, International Teachers’ Day and after the Beirut bomb blast.
As well as these initiatives, Muhammad is passionate about helping the local economy.
“Few things give me greater joy than creating jobs for youth in the area, and helping bolster the community’s well being in challenging times,” he said.
Muhammad is now launching his most daring venture to date: Lush Beauty.
Bringing Muhammad’s renowned leadership and a talented marketing, logistics and IT team along with it, Lush Beauty will offer Pakistani customers access to leading Western cosmetics.
Lush is set for an online launch in the coming months and a retail store launch in Pakistan, in early 2021.
