Frog King starring in ‘Garden Show’

EXPLORING the importance of the humble front garden, the Great Granville Garden Show exhibition kicks off next Thursday at Granville Art Gallery.

From creating community, to those of a decorative and joyful nature or even a political stance, this exhibition celebrates all things gardens.
One of the artists, Raquel Caballero has created The Frog King Grotto as her showpiece after researching the front gardens of the local area.
“I was quite surprised just how religious some of the neighbourhoods seem with a range of statues of Mary and Jesus and nods to religion in their yards,” she said.
“I have a ‘frog king’ in my yard so I thought I would base my artwork around that; sometimes you have to look beyond the decorative and the unusual to get an idea of who is behind creating it.
“There’s a range of talented artists exhibiting and I’m sure the visitors to the show will find the results thought-provoking and fascinating.”
The Great Granville Garden Show opens next Thursday, July 20, 6-8pm, is on offer until November 11, Wednesday to Saturday, 11am-3pm.
