With two co-ordinators at the helm, Joy Morris and Joy Ross, about 20 to 30 women and men meet every Tuesday in the church hall – a short walk from the station – during school terms, 10.30am-1.30pm, for the popular program which has been on offer for many years.
Activities include playing bingo for chocolate, board games like scrabble, draughts, Chinese checkers and cards plus there is a card-making and craft table for those interested as well as ‘trade table’ once a month and a DVD and book library.
Members come from a wide area including Riverwood, Padstow, Revesby, Panania, East Hills, and Milperra.
“It’s a great opportunity to socialise and enjoy the company of like-minded people over a meal as well as a few fun activities to keep your brain ticking over,” Mrs Morris said.
“All ages are welcome and we’d especially like to see more men. We have a young migrant woman who says it’s the perfect place to practise English too.”
The group is on a break and will return on Tuesday, July 19.
