Freshly cut tree ideal way to make family Christmas a memorable one

CHRISTMAS trees are a household necessity at this time of year and many families prefer the look, smell and feel of a real tree compared with a plastic one.
If you are wondering where to pick a tree, Padstow Rotary will be offering a Christmas tree sale of freshly cut beauties, on the corner of Bullecourt Road and Henry Lawson Drive, Milperra, on Saturday, December 10, from 8am until stocks last.

Padstow Rotary Club President Charles Mille says there are trees available in sizes ranging from small to extra-large, however stocks are limited.
“We will have five foot (1.5m) trees for $75, six foot (1.8m) trees for $99, large seven foot (2.1m) trees for $119 (very limited number available) and extra large eight foot (2.4m) trees for $139 (very limited number available),” he said.
The annual Christmas tree sale is a major fundraiser for Padstow Rotary club, with all proceeds of the day used to support local and international projects.
Organisers advise that you should treat your cut tree like you would a cut flower in a vase; the base should remain submerged in water and continually topped up throughout the month.
Place it in a spot that gets filtered morning light if possible and allow it to avoid the heat of the afternoon sun.
When the festive season is over, dispose of your Christmas tree by composting or cutting it up and placing in your green waste bin.
