Free talk on keeping brains fit as possible

DID you know there are more than 100 types of dementia?

Keeping your brain healthy is essential for living a fulfilling, healthy and long life.
To arm residents with the latest strategies, Dementia Australia will showcase the Brain Fit program for free at Granville Library on Tuesday, September 26, 11am-12pm, with all invited to attend this event as part of Dementia Awareness Month.
The Brain Fit program will provide information to residents, families and community members on dementia risk factors, practical steps to improve brain health and where to seek help if you’re concerned.
There will also be an opportunity to create your own Brain Fit Action Plan.
Dementia Australia’s Kyla Mathieson said that whatever your age, this program would assist the people who mattered most to you or your organisation to be as ‘brain fit’ as possible.
Dementia is not a normal part of ageing and you may need further support if: You have trouble remembering the day and date, trouble remembering recent events, difficulty following and joining conversations or losing interest in activities you usually enjoy.
“Participants will gain knowledge on the risk factors for poor brain health, how to reduce those risks and optimise brain fitness; it’s never too late to make a change,” Kyla said.
It’s free to attend and for more info, call 8757 9061 or cumberland.nsw.gov.au.
