The production, entitled ‘Christmas Around the World’, tells the story of Santa Claus as he travels from the North Pole to Australia, sharing joy and happiness, ending with Santa’s arrival at the park in a flurry of ‘snow’.
More than 1,200 people braved the smoke haze in support of a bushfire fundraiser, collecting donations and gift cards for families in need on Friday, December 6.
Susan Skuodas from the Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA), said the event raised more than $2,000.
“It’s great to see people come together here at the Park to enjoy time with family and friends, while also helping communities across the state get back on their feet,” she said.
Greg Donovan from the Salvation Army, and Debbie Buttler from BlazeAid, thanked everyone for their generous support.
“We have seven camps running in NSW with a view to open another four in the coming weeks, and this support will go a long way to help us help those who have lost everything,” Ms Buttler said.
