Free arts fest featuring new Stacey Street Band

SHOWCASING local young musicians, artists, creators and innovators, a free arts festival for all ages – The Area: World Tour – is on offer this Saturday at Bankstown Arts Centre as part of Youth Week celebrations.

Showcasing DJs, performances, art and heaps more from 12-4pm, it will also feature creative workshops including screen printing and a dance workshop from Bindi Bosses, poetry readings, food and drink vouchers and live music from Phoelix and the Stacey Street Band plus more.
Formed two years ago by a group of school friends from Sir Joseph Banks High School Revesby and Holy Spirit Catholic College Lakemba, the Stacey Street Band plays rock, pop and dance music thanks to the talented efforts of Michael Teixeira Henriques (drums), Brigida Pirolo (vocalist), David Miller (vocalist, guitar), Jacob Aarullo (bass), Arthur Teo (guitar) and Roger Cheng (keyboard).
Michael said they were wondering what to call the band one afternoon as they were driving along Stacey Street.
“Someone said ‘what about the Stacey Street Band’ and the name just stuck,” he said.
The group has had immense fun and success featuring at local festivals, pub gigs and even at a wedding performing cover music.
“Wedding guests were coming up to us all night saying how much they loved our energy, talent and vibe,” Michael said. “We’re open to performing at any kind of events including for charity and can’t wait to perform at Bankstown Arts Centre this weekend.”
No registration for the arts festival is required; more info: facebook.com/bankstownartscentre.
