Free activities for girls in celebration

AS part of their International Women’s Day 2023 celebration, Cumberland City Council is hosting free activities such as gymnastics, dance, gardening and multi-sport for girls aged five to 12 years.

These activities aim to encourage girls to get active and take care of their overall health and wellbeing by participating in sport and recreational programs. Auburn’s Sky Dance Studio will be hosting a free Hip-Hop class this Thursday, March 9, 4-5pm, with owner Laurence Song encouraging girls to book for the fun session.
“It’s a great opportunity for girls to give this style of dance a go and is great for fitness even though you don’t realise it at the time because you’re having so much fun,” he said.
“We hope a lot of girls will book for the class and get their start in the world of dance.”
Ahead of trying out Hip-Hop, girls can get their hands dirty at the ‘Potting and Painting’ session at Bunnings Warehouse tomorrow, Wednesday, March 8, 4-5.30pm.
“This activity encourages girls to explore nature and is beneficial for mental health and wellbeing,” a spokesperson said.
Next up, Berala Community Centre will host two Multi-Sport sessions on Wednesday, March 15.
Delivered by Frenzy Sports, the 4-5pm session is for girls aged five to eight years, while the 5-6pm session is for girls aged nine to 12 years.
If physical exercises requiring balance, strength, flexibility, agility and coordination, are more to your child’s liking, two Gymnastics sessions are on offer at PCYC Auburn on Saturday, March 18.
The 12.30-1.15pm session is for girls aged five to eight years, while the 1.15-2pm session is for nine to 12-year-olds.
