Frances, 57, to take on nation

AN unlikely meeting with future gym owner Moe Faour, who was working out in Clemton Park during covid, sparked a desire in Kingsgrove’s Frances Angeli (pictured) to not only get fit but make her mark on the world powerlifting stage.

Six months after meeting, Moe opened Frontline Fitness gym in Belmore last February and Frances, 57, became a regular member training four mornings a week before her office job in her quest to break barriers and set records in powerlifting.
“Moe encouraged me right from the start, saying he could see my potential and that I had the physique to go far,” she said.
Gearing up for the USAPL Australian National Championships on September 23, Frances said she had always avoided the spotlight but after her powerlifting success – she now holds the NSW record in squat, bench and deadlift – was starting to get used to it.
“I certainly have the physical strength to succeed but others have the experience and the technique,” she said.
“It can take years to master correct technique but I am learning a lot as I go.
“Moe has certainly been my inspiration and Frontline Fitness is equipped so well for any age, some of the larger gyms are intimidating but we all help each other, it’s like our second home.”
Moe said Frances was not just a powerlifter but an embodiment of perseverance and determination.
“At 57, she defies age norms and challenges conventions, showing that passion and hard work know no bounds,” he said.
“If she becomes a national champion this weekend in Melbourne, she will then receive a pro-card allowing her to compete internationally, it’s very exciting.”
