Police allege the four men forced their way into a home in Guilford Road last Wednesday morning and allegedly assaulted and choked a 25-year-old man before he was forced into their vehicle, a BMW sedan.
Following witness reports, Cumberland Police began a large-scale investigation and search for the vehicle, with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and Raptor Squad.
The man was allegedly driven to another property in Constance Street, Guilford, where the four men continued to assault and threaten him with a sword.
After several hours, the 25-year-old man was allegedly forced back into the BMW sedan.
A short time later, investigators spotted the vehicle driving on Hawksview Street, Guilford, and stopped the BMW sedan near Chetwynd Road, arrested four men aged 40, 36, 33 and 27, and seized the BMW.
All four were charged with take and detain person in company with intent to obtain advantage, and aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – use violence.
Police will allege in court that the four men travelled from Victoria to threaten and assault the 25-year-old man, who is known to them.
Investigations are continuing.
