Raids reveal ‘drug lab’ flat

A CLANDESTINE drug laboratory allegedly located in a granny flat (pictured) in Bankstown, was one of two uncovered by police during raids on several homes across Sydney.

Four men were charged after drugs and cash worth more than $1.3m were allegedly uncovered during the raids, part of a four-month long investigation into large-scale drug supply in the south-west and Illawarra region.
Homes at Bankstown and Punchbowl were among five raided, with police allegedly seizing 6.5 litres of 1,4-butanediol, 1kg of heroin, 981.7g methylamphetamine, cannabis, MDMA, cocaine, a mobile phone and $27,000 cash, which will undergo forensic examination.
The drugs are believed to have an estimated potential street value of $1,087,000.
A 51-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drug – more than commercial quantity, supply prohibited drug – more than indictable/less than commercial quantity, deal with proceeds of crime and organises/conducts/assists drug premises; a 29-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drug – more than indictable/less than commercial quantity (23 counts), supply prohibited drug – more than large commercial quantity (three counts); a 28-year-old man was was charged with supply prohibited drug – more than commercial quantity, deal with proceeds of crime and participate in criminal group contribute criminal activity; and a 49-year-old man was charged with possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.
