Principal Maria Femia said it was a fantastic opportunity to get in early with their own plans.
“We are calling on all students and staff who were at the school prior to 2000, to get in touch and ideally send in any memorabilia, including photos, they may have of the school,” she said.
“We plan to create an historical montage recognising all the previous staff and students as well as the clergy who have been a part of St Brendan’s and contributed to its success.
“It would also be great to receive any aerial shots of the school; we do have a photo taken by a drone when the school underwent a large upgrade two years ago but would love an older image.”
Planning some small celebrations later in the year as well as other events to commemorate Catholic education founder Mary Mackillop, Miss Femia said students were already looking forward to the historical dress-up day which would be held on Saint Mary of the Cross Mackillop Feast Day on August 8.
“Other projects include us working with a Sister of St Joseph who will help us design our own Holy Card to be distributed into the parish community as well as launching an Acts of Kindness campaign,” Miss Femia said.
“This will include visiting nursing homes with care packs as well as other community outreach goals; there’s plenty to look forward to at St Brendan’s.”
