Former councillor now a ‘rock star’

SUCCESSFUL Revesby businessman, tireless charity worker and former Canterbury Bankstown Councillor of 13 years, Glen Waud has decided it’s time to kick up his heels and have a bit of fun.

After being contacted by fellow musicians Paul Godfrey and Kip Royall and forming the band, ‘Timeless’, he plans to perform a couple of gigs a month and already has a strong following.
Presenting a mix of rock edge ballads through to classic dance tracks, Glen is concentrating on building a show for Sydney’s weekend arvo beer garden scene.
“Covid put a lot of things on hold for all of us, and we’re now looking forward to getting back out there more and sharing some fun and good times,” he said.
Panania born and bred, Glen moved out of the area as a newlywed before returning and settling in Revesby in the late 1990s.
Operating GT Furnishings, which was started by his father, Glen has always been close to the local community which was the reason why he joined the council.
“I tried to assist as much as I could and feel very proud of my achievements in the area of safety, particularly road safety for children around local schools through having pedestrian crossings, traffic and speed humps installed,” he said.
“We could have saved many lives already but I’m just grateful I was in a position to help.”
Many other areas of the community have also been supported thanks to Glen’s generosity.
He founded the Hughes Charity Car Show which became the East Hills Charity Car Show in 2014.
Annual recipients have included Motor Neurone Disease Australia, Rural Fire Service, Prostate Cancer Foundation, Kids Cancer Foundation and Angelflight with Crohns Colitis Foundation to benefit next following the June 19 event.
“Timeless will also be performing on the day to give the main band a break,” he said.
With the aim of supporting children with special needs, Glen also co-founded the Trilogy Foundation in 2013, along with Pauline Hedman, Angela Gatt and Kirrily Hoscher.
“I’m always looking for ways to help; it’s an honour,” he said.
To catch Glen and Timeless performing this Sunday, June 5, head to the Heathcote Hotel, 3-6pm.
