Forage to feast tour for foodie or nature lovers

A GEORGES River forager in Milperra and Georges Hall from way back, Yagoona’s renowned environmental educator Diego Bonetto and stylist, foodie and weed convert Marnee Fox are inviting residents on an edible adventure in early December.

Building on Diego’s much-loved weed foraging workshops, the pair are bringing the food found on the foraging tour to the table.
The day begins with a wander along Whites Creek, highlighting the abundance of native and non native edibles to be found underfoot.
“We will then make our way to a heritage-listed barn for a delicious eight-course degustation using many of the species we’ve just discussed,” Diego said.
Included in this exciting three-and-a-half hour adventure you will: Learn to positively identify up to 15 common edible plants; discover ways to safely harvest from the rural and urban ‘wild’ and enrich your diet with vitamins and minerals; receive a copy of Diego’s Foragers Guide; learn how you can recreate these recipes for yourself and your dinner party guests; and receive a PDF book of all the recipes tasted emailed straight to your inbox.
Diego says this is a ‘leave no trace’ event, promoting a conscious, waste-free society. “Every plant has a story and this is a great opportunity for any foodie, cook, gardener or environmentalist to learn more as there is so much wild food growing like mad at the moment thanks to all the rain,” he said.
Forage to Feast is at Whites Creek Stables (Lilyfield) on Sunday, December 4, 10.30am-2pm.
Tickets: $145 at diegobonetto.com.
