Fly on in and get hooked

LAKEMBA’S Lakeside Fly Fishing Club (LFFC) have been casting their flies far, wide and high.

Since its founding in 1951, members of the club have taken part in regular competitions, fishing trips and workshops, perfecting their skills as well as getting to attend monthly gatherings where knowledgeable members and guest speakers share stories and tips for as little as $40 a year.

They hold regular casting days, fly tying and study and talk about other important aspects of fly fishing, with members regularly going out on fishing trips and enjoying the camaraderie associated with the sport.

Fly fishing uses a light-weight lure called an artificial fly to catch fish. The fly is cast using a fly rod, reel, and specialised weighted line. The light weight requires casting techniques significantly different from other forms of casting.
