Flavours of Italy to excite your senses

TO celebrate the famous Giro D’Italia bicycle race across the beautiful landscape of Italy, La Piazza is taking you on a regional tour of the culinary delights from ancient villages in southern, central and northern Italy.

Hosted by Vincenzo Prosperi from Vincenzo’s Plate, guests will be treated to eight courses of pure dining indulgence, accompanied by classic Italian beverages such as Prosecco, Moretti Beer, Italian mineral water and Sensi Italian wines.
The meal will begin with Vitello Tonnato – cold, thinly sliced veal covered in a creamy tuna and caper mayonnaise, followed by Trofie di Recco – the classic original pesto dish from Liguria, and Zuppa di Funghi in Crosta – a soup of Porcini mushrooms, crusted in a pastry.


Then comes Baccala Mantecato – a traditional Venetian dish of light and creamy salted cod on char-grilled pane di casa, Pasta con Ceci a Gamberi – delicious handmade pasta al uovo, with a cream of chickpea and prawn sauce, Coniglio in Salsa Peverada – slow roasted free range farmed rabbit in a peppery lemon sauce, and Spalla D’agnello alla Pugliese – slow baked lamb shoulder served with roasted potatoes and rosemary.
And to finish, dive into a Dolci Misti – a traditional mixed platter of Crostoli, Strudel Tirolese and Sgroppino al Limone.
The Flavours of Italy event will be held on Tuesday, May 28, at 6.30pm in La Piazza. Tickets: $90 a person – beverages included. Bookings and pre-payment are essential. Tables are communal with a minimum of 12 people.
