Now coming under the Moxon Sports Club umbrella, the bowlers turned up for their first mixed competition last Tuesday, resplendent in their new uniforms, at Moxon Road sporting fields in Punchbowl.
The club’s Robyn McBride said their new club was marvellous.
“We are very happy to have made the switch and all we need now are a few more players, men and women, singletons or marrieds, to join,” she said.
“Health professionals recommend playing bowls, particularly for older people, as it provides a number of health benefits, including improved fitness, coordination and skill development, more confidence and self-esteem as well as enhanced mental wellbeing, community connectedness and support,” she said.
“Everyone should give it a go; we also play a ladies competitions on Thursdays so just turn up at 9am to have your first hit.”
