Fix parking after meet mayor talk

A WORD in the ear of Cumberland Mayor Steve Christou by a Guildford resident about illegal parking, has sparked quick action with the installation of new bollards and turf in Excelsior Street.

Cr Christou said the resident raised the issue at a recent ‘Meet Your Mayor’ session.
“We don’t expect residents to tolerate a situation where people are parking illegally on their nature strip and the council will assist with issues like this as much as we can to achieve a good outcome,” he said.
“I encourage local residents to continue to raise their concerns with me either through contact me directly or attending one of my Meet Your Mayor sessions.”
A council spokesperson said the project was covered under the existing infrastructure budget and no other projects were deferred to carry out the installation.
The next Meet Your Mayor session is today in Granville, on the corner of South Street and Mary Street, from 11am to 1pm, and then at Stockland Merrylands on the ground flood, outside Kmart next to Gloria Jeans on Thursday, March 19, from 10am to 1pm.
