Fitness team hosts event to raise over $7,200 to rehabilitate wildlife

DOING their bit to support the those impacted by the bushfires, more than 160 guests at the Hematime Fitness HQ Trivia Event at Panania Diggers, have raised over $7,200 for the WIRES Wildlife Rescue Organisation.

“Following the harrowing events during the recent bushfires and the unfathomable damage caused to Australia’s native wildlife, the Hematime Fitness HQ team felt compelled to assist in any way possible,” Hematime owner Sosaia Hema said.
“With a fabric donation and wildlife pouches drive used to nurture the injured wildlife back to good health held a month prior, it was evident that there was a dire need to raise money for WIRES to assist their efforts in preserving and restoring wildlife,” he said.
Sponsor prizes on the night included a signed NSW State of Origin Jersey, Canterbury Bulldogs Jersey, a Michael Clarke cricket bat, a WebberQ BBQ, Sussex Inlet Weekender, Helicopter Joy Flight and a Novotel Darling Harbour stay.
“With over 40 local and corporate companies involved, we also had great support from corporate companies such as Bing Lee Rockdale, Frucor Suntory, Harvey Norman Commercial, Novotel Darling Square, Superseal Protective Coatings (SPC) and Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs,” Sosaia said.
“A WIRES representative was also in attendance and delivered a very heart-warming presentation about their rescue aids and care for native animals, emphasising the sheer magnitude of ecological destruction resulting from the bushfires.”
