‘First win’ of season for women

BANKSTOWN Sports Women’s Crick Club’s Third Grade had their first win of the season on Saturday.

Winning the toss, Bankstown elected to bowl, with an exceptional bowling attack and reduced overs due to rain delays.  Bankstown kept Sydney University to a total of 121 off 29 overs.
Scotia McKerron had an outstanding bowling performance taking a total of 4 wickets for 25 runs off 7 overs, including a caught and bowled.
Claire Jones and Caroline Layt opened the batting for Bankstown and proved too strong for the Sydney University bowling attack, winning the game in 19 overs.
With the first 6 of the season, Claire Jones retired with 50 not out and Caroline Layt ended the game on 41 not out.
Special mention to Peta Humphreys for a brilliant catch in cover.
All Sunday matches were washed out for First Grade, Second Grade and U18 Brewer Shield.
