First paid class of new recruits

THE first fully paid class of police recruits have been sworn into the NSW Police Force, with seven hitting the beat across Cumberland this week.

NSW Governor Margaret Beazley (pictured) welcomed the 169 new probationary constables who began duties as probationary constables at their new home stations this week, including three at Auburn and four at Cumberland police commands.
Last year, the NSW Government announced that recruits would be paid up to $30,894 to study at the Goulburn Police Academy, to boost police recruitment, address the critical shortage of police officers and attract a more diverse range of recruits.
