Roaa said she was thrilled that after two years of hard work, it had all paid off.
“It feels great to be top of the State,” she said.
“Seeing how happy and proud my teacher and my parents are made me over the moon!”
She said coping with Covid was one of the hardest experiences she’d had and that she wouldn’t have made it without the support and care of her teachers.
“However it was still super hard sitting down, in front of a screen from eight in the morning to three in the afternoon,” she said.
“I’m not going to say that I didn’t have breakdowns, I had a lot and especially as I lost a family member at that time. Reaching out for help from my school counsellor made it a lot easier.”
Roaa believes what got her through was having a routine.
“Waking up at 6am, having my breakfast and then studying,” she said.
“Having study groups weekly with my friends was one of the best experiences to go through the lockdown.
“My friends and I studied together and attempted past papers under exam conditions which really helped as we didn’t get to do the trials.”
Roaa said her family was thrilled with her getting a ‘first’ in the State.
“My parents really value education and success so they were so delighted,” she said.
Now planning to do a double degree in psychology and journalism at university, Roaa said she would use her studies to assist migrants living with trauma and mental health issues.
