First Bullshark to play for NSW

BANKSTOWN AFL Bullsharks Club is celebrating after one of their U12s boys was selected to represent NSW in the AFL National Championships in August – the club’s first ever male State representative.

Simon Campbell (pictured) was selected from a strong list of contenders, all who took part in the Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA) AFL competition in Batemans Bay in May.
He started his AFL career in 2020, after speaking to friends who already played for the Bullsharks.
It was clear to his coach from the start that he was one to watch, according to Bullsharks President Tim Hall.
Simon started in the modified format of zoned football in the U9s and went onto the U10s.
“Simon is explosive out the middle, fast moving, with the ability to kick the ball from a very long distance,” Hall said.
Simon and team mate Cooper regularly play up a grade, being the U12s, making the Grand Final and were ecstatic to be part of the team that went on to claim the premiership.
“Successful in gaining a place in the Giants training academy, trialling and making the PSSA boys squad, Simon was a standout that NSW did not want to miss out on,” Hall said.
“The Bullsharks committee, team, club and families wish him all the best in the upcoming tournament, with all invited to our club’s next home ground day on July 30.”
