First box of season cherries go under hammer to raise $80,000

IN a juicy showcase, the first cherries of the season have gone under the hammer, raising $80,000.

After 2 years of disruptions due to Covid-19, Sydney Markets Foundation has held its 41st annual cherry auction in support of Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation, having raised over $1 million for charities in the last 41 years.  The title of cherry king for 2022 has gone to Robert Lo (pictured) from Pro Bros Providore, who bid $60,000 and an additional $20,000 was donated by Sydney Markets Credit Service.
