Firies equipment upgrade

FIRIES will be better armed in their fight to protect the community with a new $655,000 pumper being rolled out at Lakemba Fire Station. The pumper will supply up to 4,000 litres of water a minute and features a Compressed Air Foam (CAFs) system with biodegradable foam, assisting firefighters in responding to chemical, petrol and bush fire-related incidents. It is has an electronic message board on the back to warn motorists of emergency operations. FRNSW Commissioner Paul Baxter says firies do an outstanding job in responding to a variety of emergencies in the community so it is pleasing that Lakemba will now benefit from a new and modern vehicle to respond to various incidents in the community.
