More than 50 firefighters battled the blaze in the two-level property in Good Street for an hour before it was brought under control.
Fears of a structural collapse on at least two sides of the building prevented firefighters from entering the premises, and instead, they used aerial platforms to reach over the roof to pour water on the seat of the fire and regularly assessed the threat using drones.
A man, 42, was arrested at the scene and charged with damage property by fire/explosive.
