The blaze broke out at the rear of the Henson Street address just after 11.30am.
Crews worked quickly to contain the flames which threatened the adjoining house and neighbouring homes.
Acting Superintendent Mathew Sigmund from FRNSW said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.
