The family of four were in their Tyalgum Avenue home when four people – two armed with guns, one with a machete and the other with a knife – forced their way in, assaulted the 57-year-old man and a woman, before stealing jewellery and fleeing in a vehicle about 10.30pm.
The 57-year-old was taken to hospital in a stable condition, while his wife was treated at the scene.
