Family to receive $100 a child in fees for footy

BERALA Bears Junior Rugby League Football Club President Omar Sankari is praising their association, Canterbury Bankstown District Junior Rugby League (CBDJRL), after it was announced a new registration grant of $100 a child would be introduced for the 2024 junior league season.

The grant seeks to help reduce overhead costs for families and encourage thousands of children – aged from Under 5s to Under 13s – to participate in rugby league from an early age in the local area.
Sankari said the registration subsidy was as much about helping support local families as it was helping to grow the game at a grassroots level.
“I hope it will bring a lot more kids into the game,” he said.
“We’ve spoken to some of our parents and they are very happy since some families have three, four or five children playing and that can add up to a lot of money in rego fees.
“This should have happened years ago, long before the Active Kids Vouchers were introduced.
“This is the best way to ease the financial burden on families and encourage more to take part in rugby league at a grassroots level.
“It’s a fantastic move.”
CBDJRL clubs are now open for registration in 2024.
