Firies were called to a home on Henry Lawson Drive about 11.45am where a blaze had started in the rear of the property.
No one was inside but a dog was removed from the scene by a neighbour before fire crews arrived.
Just over an hour earlier, firefighters prevented a fire from spreading from a granny flat to neighbouring homes at Greenacre.
The blaze broke out in Lauma Avenue just before 11am and when firefighters arrived, they found flames coming through the roof of the granny flat but they quickly went to work, containing and extinguishing the flames within an hour.
Acting Superintendent Mathew Sigmund from Fire and Rescue NSW, says these incidents are timely reminders that calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.
