BANKSTOWN’S Brodie Toweel was awarded a Silver medal in front of hundreds of his peers from across the country, at the WorldSkills Australia 2023 National Championships Closing Ceremony in Melbourne last month.

Studying a Certificate III in Engineering-Mechanical Trade which he is due to complete in December, Brodie said the competition was tough and the final scores were close.
“It was a really intense and busy few days, but it was lots of fun and worth all of the hard work and preparation,” he said.
“It was surreal to hear my name called out, there was so much talent in my category, so I was really happy to come away with a Silver medal.”
He thanked his employers at Tanis Confectionery, Zok and Adrien, who have been a great support letting him do some overtime to get in the extra training and allowing hime to take time off work for the competition, while he also heaped praise on his TAFE teachers Chris Burgess and Peter Kelly “who have been instrumental in helping me prepare for the event by going over drawings and showing me what to expect on the day”.
