A fan of Elvis since the 50s when she was 13, Lyn says she has tickets to all the festival shows in town and is even booked for the Parkes Elvis Festival in January.
“I’ve been to Parkes three times but I’ve been to Memphis six times,” she said.
“I am going to Hawaii in November and will again visit the Polynesian Cultural Centre and the Coco Palms where Elvis made ‘Blue Hawaii’.
“I’ve also been on tours to New Orleans where he filmed ‘King Creole’ and the Pink Flamingo in Las Vegas a few times, of course, where he made ‘Viva Las Vegas’. I just try to follow where he has been.”
Lyn says her favourite Elvis song is ‘Memories’ but she loves them all.
“I adore everything, his gospel music, just everything across the decades,” she said.
“I can’t really explain why, it’s just that when he singing it’s like he is singing directly to you and there is no one else there; I’ve heard other people say that too.”
Lyn said her only real regret in life was that she never got to see him perform live.
“He died way too soon, I believe he had a hard life but look how much joy he left us,” she said.
Lyn said one of her favourite Elvis tribute artists is Bill Cherry who will be part of the Bankstown Sports showcase from August 4-6.
“Just like Elvis, Bill has a great voice, charisma and is very sexy, he has Elvis’ moves down to a tee,” she said.
