Easy to boost health of all family by tuning into free Go4Fun online tips

FREE healthy lifestyle program Go4Fun has moved online and one Merrylands family is encouraging others to give it a go.

Go4Fun aims to educate parents and school-aged children about healthier food options and the importance of regular physical activity.
While regular face-to-face programs are on hold due to Covid-19 restrictions, mum Rana Al-Sammarraie said the online program’s weekly coaching and updates were easy and convenient.
“Each week our Go4Fun online coach Jessie would contact us, which was helpful,” she said.
“If we had family commitments she would work around us and reschedule our chat for another time.
“English is a second language for me and this wasn’t an issue online or when speaking with Jessie.”
Using a fitness tracker to count his 10,000 steps daily, her son 11-year old Yussif is also feeling more confident.
“I now drink lots of water and eat less processed foods,” he said.
“I love being creative and making things out of stuff I find around the house.
“I made an indoor basketball hoop out of cardboard boxes which is so much fun to use.”
More than 13,000 families have participated in the program since its launch in 2011 and Christine Newman from Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD), said research has shown that the whole-family approach “is more effective in the long term.”
Places for term one are limited and to book or for more information, call 1800 780 900 or visit go4funonline.com.au by Friday, February 5.
