Daring Easter rescue of bunny in house fire

FIREFIGHTERS have pulled off an Easter rescue, saving a bunny from a unit fire at Belmore last Thursday morning.

The blaze broke out in a two-level apartment block in Tudor Street, just before 9am.
Earlier, a man, aged about 50, escaped the blaze with a rabbit, belonging to his children.
He attempted to go back into the unit to rescue a second bunny when he was overcome by smoke and was forced to retreat. He was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, then entered the second-storey apartment and located the second bunny, carrying it to safety, before handing it back to the grateful owner (pictured).
The cause of the fire is unknown.
