East Hills Raptor baseball girls among nation’s best

COACHED by East Hills Raptors Baseball Club’s Stephen Kelly, the Cronulla Sutherland Junior Baseball Association (CSJBA) Girls Development team which included five East Hills Raptors players, are officially among the best in the nation after winning the Queensland Tournament State Title Champions Little League.

East Hills Baseball Club President Jill Archer said Raptor girls Layla Kelly, Neveah Fungalei, Isla Metuisela, Indigo Fing and Isabella Kozanic (pictured with coach Stephen) played six games in two days and only lost one on their championship conquest.
“The girls played hard and even though they were down in the last game, they found another gear and kept the opposition to 0 in the third innings before coming out and scoring 4 to take the win 8-6 and the championship,” she said.
“Girls playing baseball is becoming more and more popular and now for the first time, our association CSJBA will be entering a dedicated girls team in the Baseball NSW 2024 Little League Div 2 State Championships.”
One of the first baseball clubs in Bankstown, East Hills Baseball Club was established in 1967 and supplies players with bats, helmets, balls, catching gear and pays for lights.
“Our coaches are all accredited to Australian Baseball Federation Level standards and have Working with Children Checks,” Mrs Archer said.
“Our club is very family orientated and we have great facilities with three fully fenced, enclosed diamonds, batting tunnel, clubhouse and lots of parking.”
