East Hills Baseball invites senior winter registrations

WITH two rounds left to play of the summer season before finals on March 9, East Hills Baseball Club (EHBC) is calling for registrations in senior winter baseball as part of their regular St George Association competition.

This follows the club’s success running the recent inaugural All Girls ‘Archer Cup’ tournament.
Club President and Vice-President, Peter and Jill Archer, began thinking what competitions were available in Sydney for young women to play, including age groups too old for BNSW Rookie Reps, but not old enough for women’s baseball.
Following the inaugural all-girls division in the BNSW Rookie’s Representative competition last year, they knew there was interest in an all-girls tournament and decided to host their first ‘Archer Cup’ for girls aged 10, 11 and 12 years with five teams taking part – St George, Illawong, East Hills, Penrith and Manly.
To ensure each team had 12 players, EHBC even enlisted friendship players from Quakers Hill, Eastern Suburbs Dolphins and Arncliffe Scots.
“Lots of fun was had and friendships were made,” Jill said.
“Congratulations to the winners, Illawong Marlins, and it was great to see Banks MP David Coleman not only in attendance but able to throw the event’s first pitch.
“With the great feedback the club has received, we cannot wait to run the tournament again and hope more teams from near and far will attend.”
With registrations now open for the winter season which starts in April and runs through until August, those who played over summer will have winter season fees reduced.
