Ease virus conditions

CONGREGATIONS can once again belt out a hymn at places of worship after a range of Covid-19 restrictions were eased from last Friday.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian also announced that up to 30 people at a time can also now hit the dance floor at weddings, more than 50 visitors are allowed into your home and cinemas can return to 100 per cent capacity.
“With the rollout of the vaccine now underway, and no new locally acquired cases in NSW, we are able to make further changes towards a new ‘Covid normal’,” she said.
However Ms Berejiklian also warned against becoming complacent and urged people to continue to follow the health advice “to keep the virus at bay”.
While household gathering restrictions eased, Dr Chant also called on everyone to remember that Covid-19 could be transmitted more easily in crowded indoor settings.
“Don’t attend these types of events if you have Covid-19 symptoms – instead get tested immediately and self-isolate,” she said.
“If holding these gatherings, please use outdoor settings and well ventilated spaces where available and avoid overcrowding to reduce the risk of Covid transmission.”
If the trend of no local transmission continues, drinking while standing up at indoor venues could be allowed by St Patrick’s Day on Wednesday, March 17.
Health Minister Brad Hazzard added that NSW had come a long way since the virus arrived here and we should be proud of the position we are now in.
