Eagles soaring on approach to finals

AUBURN Eagles first grade are tied for second spot and only a few points off the lead after defeating Northwest Sydney Hurricanes in the Sydney Shires cricket competition.

It took them only 33 overs to reach the target. Eagles’ first grade captain Corey Lowe invited the Hurricanes to have a bat and had them in the sheds for 129 after 47.3 overs. Sean Cleasby took 3-27 and Mo Dewji 3-16.
The low target was overtaken by the Eagles with 5-130 after 33.2 overs, just missing out on the Bonus Point. Asad Usman opened with 47 runs and Blake Pearson brought it home with 26.
Auburn is now in third place on the first grade ladder with very little between them and the top.
Second grade are now atop the ladder after beating the Hurricanes at Rouse Hill.
The Hurricanes chose to bat first and were 9-147 after 50 overs. The wickets were shared with Eagles Mohamed Naeem, Pramaj Randhawa and Jas Singh each taking two.
Auburn reached 5-148 in 38.3 overs. Randhawa (50) and John Goulding (39) were the top run-getters.
Third grade has been the most affected by Covid and with only 85, went down to the Hurricanes 1-87.
The fourth grade Eagles faced a substantial 9-179 by the Hurricanes however, they overtook the target in the 35th over. Husny Mohamed took 3-19, Marlon Meurling opened with 49 and Udesha Arachchi scored 69 not out.
