In hot conditions, Warringah won the toss and on a very hard, flat wicket elected to bat first and posted a very imposing score of 9/323 declared.
All of the Eagles bowlers toiled away in the heat, with the pick of the bowlers being the two opening bowlers, Sajjad Qaiser with 4/89 off 22 overs and Blake Pearson with 3/52 off 14 overs.
Chasing down Warringah’s total of 323 was a huge task for the Eagles batsmen but they were up to the challenge and passed Warringah’s score only five wickets down, with two players recording impressive centuries.
Leading the way for the Eagles was dynamic opening batsman, Amanyjot Sing, whose power and aggression saw him hit the Warringah bowlers to all parts of the ground in scoring 124 runs, which included 21 fours and two sixes.
Not to be out done, Sajjad Qaiser produced an innings full of fine stroke play and controlled aggression to finish with a score of 100 not out, which included 11 fours and six sixes.
Solid contributions were also made by Peter Andonopoulos with 37 and Blake Pearson with 30.
Under the leadership of new captain Asad Usman, the First Grade has a new refreshed, positive approach to its cricket, which was clearly demonstrated in the excellent run chase to haul in Warringah’s 323 runs with 5 wicket in hand.
The team will be strengthened in its next match against Balmain-South Sydney with the return of key strike pace bowler, Matthew Bursa who was unavailable for the opening two rounds.
