The season kicked off with a 50-over One Day round.
First grade skipper Ardil Domingo won the toss, batted and his team racked up 7-210 in the 50 overs at Souths.
Waleed Jalil continued last season’s good form with a dominant 63, while his big brother Nasir scored 26, Domingo, 21 and Shan Rana, 20.
In reply, Balmain-Souths were all out for 85 and Auburn got the valuable Bonus Point.
Bowler, Yasir ‘Yas’ Ali stunned by switching from his usual medium-fast pace to off-spin, snaring 5-18.
Crafty Domingo saw the Bunnies run rate dropping and gave them no pace so they had to hit out and that did the trick.
Auburn go to round two at the top of the table.
Second grade back home was just as brutal.
Souths batted first for 148 with exciting youngster Ryan Wherrett doing most damage with 4-16 and Cheema Abdulla chimed in with 4-24.
Auburn got the runs 4-149 with Martin Azzimi scoring 55 no, supported by Hamid Mangal, 27 and Shafeeq Noori, 25.
In third grade, Balmain-Souths were all out for 96 with skipper Mo Dewji taking 4-27, Udesha Suraweera, 2-8 no and Joban Sandhun, 2-17.
Auburn cruised home with 1-100. Harrison Quinn scored 44 no and Josh Romero, 25 no. This was another Bonus Point win.
Fourth grade were equally devastating by bowling Balmain-Souths for 100. Amir Ajineh took 3-10, Amir Raza, 3-15 and Hammad Mohammed, 2-7.
Auburn got the Bonus Point by scoring 2-102. P. Randhawa scored 4 no for the Eagles.
To get one Bonus Point in a round is an achievement but for three of the top four grades to get one is amazing.
Fifth grade match was postponed.
Eagles’ first round wins amazing
TO call the first round of the Sydney Shires cricket competition triumphant understates the sheer dominance of the Auburn Eagles in all grades.
