It comes as part of EA Sport’s continued expansion of its
FC Futures initiative, a new 12-month girls’ grassroots program to support and grow women’s and girls’ football, which has been developed in partnership with Police Citizens Youth Clubs NSW (PCYC).
The new community football pitch was created in partnership with EA Sports FC ambassador and Matildas legend Sam Kerr and will feature on the popular gaming mode, with coaching clinics and training camps to be run by A-League clubs and star players.
The pitch is a celebration of Kerr as an inspiration for players around the world and will provide a well equipped, high-quality facility with free access for young players.
“It’s an honour to have a pitch inspired by and created in my name,” Kerr said.
“And be part of this wonderful initiative to help grow football in Australia as well as providing young girls further opportunities.”
The project will include coaching clinics and training camps run by Wanderers coaches and players.
EA Sports FC Senior Director James Salmon said FC Futures would help provide unique tools to support the next generation of grassroots players.
“Sam Kerr is synonymous with inspiring the love of football, and we couldn’t be more excited to work with her to unveil this pitch and to continue providing greater access to sport for the community,” he said.
