‘Dying to Know Day’ campaign helping to reduce death stigma

IT’S one of the certainties of life, but death is often too awkward to talk about.

However, the Dying to Know Day 2024 campaign is breaking down the stigma and sense of awkwardness associated with conversations about death, dying and grief.
Earlier this month a Dying to Know Day event was held at Yagoona Community Centre, highlighting the role of community in fostering conversations around death and dying, and encouraging individuals to consider and talk about their own unique wishes for end of life.
Local services and organisations, including funeral homes, celebrants, the South Western Sydney Local Health Department palliative care service, Ambulance NSW, bereavement services, solicitors and many more, were on hand to offer advice and information.
