The company behind the Australian-first initiative doesn’t make any money by selling fuel, promising that members pay the same as they do. It charges a membership fee of $5 a month or $50 a year to use this technology and you can only pay through the Ruckus app at a participating service station – in this case, the BP Auburn (cnr Parramatta Rd and Stubbs St).
It’s contactless and safe during Covid times, as you don’t need to go into the store.
Founder and Chief of Operations, Mick Jarvie, used to run pricing for Caltex but says it’s not set up to benefit consumers.
“We’ve made the first month’s membership free so you can try before you buy,” he said. “Members who filled with Ruckus on average saved $26 on their fuel bill in September.”
Ruckus will celebrate coming to Auburn by hosting a 99c a litre fuel day tomorrow, Wednesday, October 20, at the BP Auburn, where E10, unleaded, diesel and premium diesel will be only 99c a litre all day if you use the app – that’s a saving of over $25 on the average 50-litre fill.
